Online Therapy for Adults in Ohio, Washington, and Colorado

Welcome, I am glad that you landed on this page. Making the decision to find help is hard enough. At Be Free Counseling, I offer virtual trauma treatment and EMDR therapy for adults living in Ohio, Washington, and Colorado.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and I’m here to walk beside you as you find your way to a better and more fulfilling life. Are you tired of feeling stuck, falling into the same old patterns, or reliving the past? Other therapy hasn’t helped as much as you hoped? People often come to me when they are tired of feeling anxious, depressed, angry, on edge, hyper vigilant, or stressed but talk therapy treatments have not had much success. I am here to tell you that you don’t have to live this way. Healing is possible. I believe that clients are experts on their lives, and ultimately know what is best for them and what they need. I won’t make decisions for you, but together, we will collaborate on how to best move forward and improve your well-being.

Temporary Circumstances

Listen in to Temporary Circumstances, a free resource on mental health, available on this website or your favorite podcast platform. On the podcast, my co-host Cora Mayfield and I—both licensed professionals—discuss a wide range of mental health topics, including trauma treatment and EMDR therapy. We also work to debunk myths, explore uncommon subjects, and share educational content on mental health and wellness.

Temporary Circumstances was inspired by my former mentor and boss, Bill Mason. Bill tragically passed away in 2019, but I wasn’t ready to let go of the idea of creating a podcast focused on mental health. The name came from a belief that helped me through some of my most difficult times: that everything in life is temporary—and this pain, too, shall pass. Together with Cora, I delve into important and sometimes overlooked aspects of mental health in each episode.

Meet The Team

Olena S. Miller

LPCC., MS., MA.

I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and the owner of Be Free Counseling. I’ve found that my niche is helping clients who are tired of feeling stuck, caught in the same old patterns, or reliving the past. I specialize in trauma, PTSD, and EMDR therapy, and I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including childhood trauma, abuse and neglect, medical trauma, sexual assault trauma, and the unique challenges faced by first responders, veterans, motor vehicle accident victims, domestic violence survivors, gun violence survivors, and more.

Specialties

  • Childhood trauma
  • Abuse and neglect
  • Chronic PTSD
  • Acute PTSD
  • Medical trauma
  • Gun violence trauma
  • Sexual assault trauma
  • Domestic violence trauma

Education

  • B.A. in Psychology from Ohio University
  • M.A. in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology
  • M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University

After going through my own Adverse Childhood Experiences, I was drawn to the mental health field to better understand people and human behavior. While I was still an intern, I was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for the treatment of trauma and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), and it quickly became my specialty.

I believe in identifying and addressing the root cause of my clients’ concerns, rather than offering temporary fixes or “band-aid” solutions. In addition to EMDR therapy, I also incorporate person-centered and somatic therapies into my work, and I am IFS-informed (Internal Family Systems).

Although I hold a degree in forensic psychology, I am not a licensed forensic psychologist, and Be Free Counseling does not offer forensic psychology services.
